Scale of progress of peoples is measured by their awareness of the importance of spending on science. Engineer Abdullah Ahmed Bugshan deserves all the appreciation not because he is spending, nor to be the best spender, but because he is of those who spend on science. In historical unprecedented move, embodied the real community partnership in serving science, he was the first Saudi businessman who create a research chair. He created Abdullah Bugshan chair for Research on soil in tumescent, and funded the first science chair at King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals, and because he was graduated from such university, he is still funding it,.. it is a Research Chair in Communication. and with the partnership with this university he funds a vital and accurate special research project to ease salinity in the soil in proportion to the service of mankind and agriculture in the Kingdom. Recently he joined a number of national businessmen who financed several chairs to serve social affairs. One of them was the chair Abdullah Bugshan for Research on home violence in King Abdul Aziz University- Jeddah. This chair is a recognized addition to social stability and compatibility of family and its impact on future generations.
These conscious initiatives, represented by Engineer Abdullah Bugshan, extended to the University endowment. He shared with his friend, renowned businessman Sheikh Mohammed Hussein Al Amoudi and provide 50 million rials as endowment in favor of the scientific development. Then Sheikh Bakr bin Muhammad bin provides 25 million, and by total amount being donated, these men had launched - in their individual capacities - the first scientific endowment for a Saudi University. They began the step which lead to bigger steps and elevate Saudi universities endowment to the ranks of the world's major universities.
